Maya & Sunny
Little Actions, Big Changes

"Maya & Sunny: Little Actions, Big Changes" is a thoughtfully illustrated children’s book designed to reconnect young readers with nature through simple yet meaningful activities they can enjoy right in their own backyard. Set against the unique landscape of Nevada, the story follows Maya and her desert tortoise friend, Sunny, as they explore small but impactful ways to care for their local environment, season by season.

Growing up surrounded by nature, I learned early on the importance of protecting our planet, an understanding fostered by childhood experiences. This book project reflects that personal passion, aiming to inspire the next generation with accessible environmental education. By gently introducing practical actions like planting wildflowers, providing water for wildlife, or building bug habitats, I hope to foster environmental awareness, responsibility, and joy in exploring the outdoors.
For young readers and families, this book offers clear, actionable ideas that easily integrate into daily life, making environmental care enjoyable and achievable. The project emphasizes that every small action matters, empowering children to become active, compassionate caretakers of the natural world. Through playful storytelling and inviting illustrations, "Maya & Sunny: Little Actions, Big Changes" strives to plant seeds of environmental stewardship, curiosity, and kindness—one little explorer at a time.
